Do I have to pay sales tax?
Most wholessalers, liquidation and surplus dealers require a resale certificate, but not all states require one. A resale certificate is required if you purchase merchandise for resale that you are going to resell. The resale certificate makes you exempt from paying sales tax to your supplier as long as the items are for resale. If any of the items are for personal use you cannot use the resale certificate for those items and you must tell the vendor.
You only need to submit the resale certificate with your vendor once and they will keep it on file. Not all states require this, please check with your state.
